Anthem health plan members get no-cost virtual lactation support, after enrolling in the free Anthem Building Healthy Families program. Anthem provides no-cost breastfeeding support with Wildflower Health. This means you can talk one-on-one to a breastfeeding expert. The lactation consultant can help you before and after your baby is born.
I have a lactation consultant:
- Ask your lactation consultant for the Anthem lactation benefit pre-check form
- After completing that Anthem lactation benefit pre-check form, you will either be directed to enroll in Anthem Building Healthy Families. In some cases, you will be able to schedule with your chosen lactation consultant immediately
- For most patients, you will be directed to enroll in Anthem Building Healthy Families. To access this free resource program, follow the steps above for the Sydney app or the Anthem website.
- Once you've successfully completed enrollment in Building Healthy Families you will get a confirmation email from Wildflower Health lactation to schedule your first virtual appointment with your chosen lactation consultant.

How do I know if I'm eligible for lactation and breastfeeding support?

What is an IBCLC?
An IBCLC, or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, is a healthcare professional with the highest level of certification in breastfeeding and lactation care. They are trained to provide expert support for all lactation issues, from prenatal preparation to weaning, and can help with a wide range of concerns including latching problems, milk supply issues, and pumping. Certification requires specific health science education, extensive clinical hours, and passing a comprehensive board exam administered by the International Board of Lactation Consultant.
